Fifteen Things God Won’t Ask

Filed under: extra — aikhui @ 7:23 pm
  • God won’t ask which car you drive, but will ask how many people you drove who didn’t have transportation.
  • God won’t ask how big is your house, but will ask how many people you welcomed into your home.
  • God won’t ask about the fancy clothes in your wardrobe, but will ask how many of those clothes helped the needy.
  • God won’t ask about your social status, but will ask what kind of class you displayed with others.
  • God won’t ask how many material possessions you had, but will ask if they dictated your life.
  • God won’t ask what your highest salary was, but will ask if you compromised your character to obtain that salary.
  • God won’t ask how much overtime you worked, but will ask if you worked overtime for your family and loved ones.
  • God won’t ask how many promotions you received, but will ask how you promoted others.
  • God won’t ask what your job title was, but will ask if you reformed your job to the best of your ability.
  • God won’t ask what you did to help yourself, but will ask what you did to help others.
  • God won’t ask how many friends you had, but will ask how many people to whom you were a true friend.
  • God won’t ask what you did to protect your rights, but will ask what you did to protect the rights of others.
  • God won’t ask in what neighborhood you lived, but will ask how you treated your neighbors.
  • God won’t ask about the color of your skin, but will ask about the content of your character.
  • God won’t ask how many times your deeds matched your words, but will ask how many times they didn’t.

Discrimination

Filed under: thought — aikhui @ 11:57 pm

I visit CNA website regularly to update myself on world and local news. I found this article pretty intriguing and especially this sentence.

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/429114/1/.html

“Mr Siew, who is married and is a corporate lawyer, reiterated that he does not support homosexuality but is rather against discrimination, which is why he sought to repeal the law against gay sex in 2007.”

By setting a law against homosexuality – is that discrimination?

So that means, the law against murder is a discrimination to murderers? Or the law of not smoking in sheltered places is discrimitory to smokers? So you see, this is utter rubbish.

By definition, discrimination is to make an unjust or prejudicial distinction in the treatment of different categories of people or things, esp. on the grounds of race, sex, or age.

And there you have it. The thing about discrimination is to make unjust or prejudicial distinction. Is it unjust or prejudiced to forbid homosexuality?

The world has come to a point where there is no such thing as black and white or rather more black things are becoming white legally via the actions of lawmakers. Since when was unethnical things like gambling and homosexuality legal in social values? And wow, how times have change, cos now we have legalised gambling. I think it will not be long when we see more weird legal stuff appearing.

So, dear readers, think for yourself, what is discrimination actually?

And lastly, I would just like to say to all readers, to not use words in vain. Think properly the meaning of each word before using them.

I guess one of the things I’ll miss here is the close contact I have with nature right at my door step. Just the other day when I was walking to the bus stop, I saw this woodpecker just right beside the pathway. It’s not afraid of anyone at all.

My Philosophy in Life – supplement to previous post

Filed under: thought — aikhui @ 1:06 am

In life, there are many things that don’t go our way. And somehow we have got to learn how to accept things that rock our boat. It is only with these ups and downs that aid us in our growth in life and to also develop our resilience to disappointment and rejection. I can’t say I’m a guru in this field but I have been through life long enough to know and accept things as they come and try to make the best use of the situation. And I know that certain actions will have their consequences too and from that we can learn how to make proper decisions.

Random thoughts

Filed under: rant — aikhui @ 4:01 pm

When you understand that all man are sinful creatures, you don’t hold that much of a high standard towards the speech and actions of people. But for those who don’t understand sin and think that man are perfect beings, the yardstick of measuring others becomes so long that when things go wrong( and they usually do), they tend to get exasperated with all these ‘wrong things’ and end up getting pissed and angry over little things.

I’m not saying I’m a very holy person but in this world, all it needs is a little love and to relax a little. What’s the use of being angry, being pissed? It’s not like it’s going to solve anything right? I prefer to keep cool and calm and to just take each incident as independent as possible so that I don’t accumulate the anger over time. Furthermore, it’s not even life-threatening, so why get so worked up over it.

My philosophy in life

- Live life and let it be. If life throws bricks at you, collect them and build a house.
- There are two things a person should never be angry at, what they can help and what they cannot: Plato
